So much time, so little time - about getting things done

It's amazing how little time we have when we have plenty of time. The first priority to be addressed when starting my new ASYA life, is time management and focus. Two days ago I was aimlessly browsing on the web in search of the perfect tool to fix my "Oh my god, I am losing so much time and not getting enough results" headache. The more the search failed to give the needed answers, the more my husband got angry looks. I wanted to be helped. I needed to be helped.

Eventually, my grunts moved his heart in my direction. He suggested a very simple yet powerful exercise that I shared with my younger sister the day after, and with you today.

1. Write down your qualitative (#), quantitative ($), personal (P) and formal goals (F);

2. On a A4 horizontal page, draw three columns and four rows;

3. In the first row, assign the goals of point 1 to three expected timing categories: short-term (S = following 6 months), mid-term (M = following 18 months) and long-term (L = following 36 months). Name the goals according to their priority and expected timing, e.g. S1, S2, M1, M2, L1, L2, etc.

4. The three rows under the first row divide the activities by phase of completion: I. collect information, II. prepare & train, III. execute

5. Select a time tracking tool (we have chosen toggl) and assign a project to each goal and a phase to each phase of completion.

6. Track time and assign all activities to the suitable project/ phase of completion;

7. Wake up. Analyse the results weekly and align your activities to your goals and priorities;

8. Relax. Smile. You're back on track and enjoy feeling good about it.

($) = typically here you state your monetary goal

(#) = typically here you state goals such as number of customers/ year, number of orders/ year, return rate, productivity, etc.

(P) = typically here you state goals such as how you aim to feel about yourself

(F) = typically here you state goals such as how you want others to perceive you
