I am on the run, catching flight number three of a week made of four. Just before boarding the red light of my blackberry starts blinking. I open the inbox, read the last email and feel the rage slowly rising. Luckily i am urged by the stewardess to switch off the mobile phone. I start to nervously imagine replies of all sorts when a quick thought crosses my mind:
When was the last time I asked myself this question? I see my belly (how could it grow so fast?) and I know that
"it must have been too many muffins ago when I last asked myself if I was OK."
Here is when the analyst side of me takes over and suggests an excercise that I want to share with you. The rest of the flight is dedicated to counting hours and assigning them to four categories: Mind, Soul, Heart and Body.
Working, watching TV, browsing on the web are assigned to the MIND category.
Cooking, Reading fiction, Photography and Walking is assigned to SOUL category.
Time with family and friends is assigned to the HEART category.
Swimming, running and yoga are assigned to the BODY category.
With a day made of 12 hours, my result is:
76 % mind
17 % heart
4 % soul
1 % body
WOW! I am shocked and relieved at the same time. The problem is not a badly written email, but a badly balanced life!
