"Having a FB Page is about having a long term and long distance relation with your most demanding customers."
When considering to open and run a FB page for your business, you need to know:
1. It will take time and daily attention.
2. No matter how professional and excellent an external curator is, she will never be as effective and passionating as someone within the organization. Except big brands, we always advise small to medium businesses to run their FB page internally. If they are not willing to do it, having a FB page may not be relevant enough to them.
3. When advertising to gain fans, ensure that you are targeting people with relevant interests. When the target is too open you will lose your fans as quickly as you have acquired them. A large fan base with low relevance will engage less and make it very hard for you to have a real relation. I call this a "diluted" fan base.
4. Defining a publishing plan helps to focus and be efficient. Without, you will push yourself to a daily frustration of being in front of a blank sheet.
5. The most rewarded images and videos are those made by people for people. When visual content is too elaborated, it fails to reach your fans' heart.
6. Last but not least, Facebook is a social media invented to stay in contact and entertain a relation. We always urge our customers to keep this in mind every time they look for quick wins and ROS. FB can bring sales, but is not a sales tool.
